The Perfect Balance: Agave Brightness Meets Oak Depth

If the Reposado is the "Introduction" and the Extra Añejo is the "Grand Finale," Compoveda Añejo is the main event. This expression masterfully threads the needle between the two, offering the vibrant spice of agave with the sophisticated richness of extended oak aging.

This is the "Goldilocks" of the Compoveda lineup—bold enough for whiskey drinkers, yet smooth enough for those who prefer a lighter spirit. It captures the brand’s signature red-wine finish in a profile that is complex, spicy, and deeply satisfying.

Why It’s Exceptional

Compoveda Añejo spends significantly more time in the barrel than the Reposado, allowing the wood to impart deeper colors and flavors without completely masking the agave.

  • Double Barrel Character: Aged for 16 months (8 months ex-bourbon barrels + 8 months ex-red wine barrels), giving the spirit ample time to mellow and develop a rich amber hue.
  • Signature Wine Finish: Like its siblings, this Añejo is finished in Stag's Leap Cabernet Sauvignon barrels from Napa Valley. This imparts unique notes of dried berries and tannins that you simply won't find in standard tequila.

Tasting Notes

Aroma: Warm and inviting. The nose is dominated by rich vanilla and toasted almonds, layered with dried fruit (figs, dates) and a distinct note of leather and pipe tobacco.

Palate: Round and full. The red wine barrels make their presence known with a burst of dark cherry and plum, quickly balanced by the heat of baking spices—nutmeg, clove, and black pepper. The mouthfeel is buttery but retains a pleasant "chew."

Finish: Medium-long and spicy. As the sweetness of the fruit fades, you are left with a dry, elegant finish of toasted oak and a whisper of cocoa.
